Animal style, 4 x 4, protein style, flying dutchmen. If any of these sound familiar, then you’ve by now discovered In N Out’s “secret menu“.

The popular hamburger chain has been synonymous with some of the finest burger cuisine since 1948. Their menu has been unchanged since it’s inception, but with a little word of mouth, there is a ton of variety to be had beyond a standard cheeseburger with fries.

As soon as I heard about a “fried mustard and chopped chilis” burger at In N Out, I bolted out the door to check it out. My usual order is a hamburger, animal style with extra lettuce and tomatoes, but I wanted to try the “fried mustard and chopped chilis” burger as is so here we go!

Yup. There’s nothing really fancy from the looks of things, but this burger sure does taste significantly different than any In N Out burger I’ve ever had.

The “fried mustard” is an additional layer of very tangy mustard just below the burger patty. The chopped chilis part is pretty much what you’d imagine it to be. Chopped chilis mixed in with their sauce that adds an awesome kick to the burger. For me, mustard was a tad too strong since all I could taste was the mustard, but if you’re a big mustard fan, by all means go for it. The chopped chilis are an awesome addition and will become part of my standard order of:

Combo #3, animal style, extra lettuce, extra tomatos, onions, chopped chilis and well done fries :)
